Public Hearing

The Kanawha County Solid Waste Authority will be holding a public hearing to accept comments from county residents regarding Waste Management’s proposed transfer station. Waste Management of West Virginia, Inc. has filed an Application for a Certificate of Site Approval from the Solid Waste Authority. This is the next to last step in the approval process for this solid waste facility. The Charleston Transfer Station will be located near the existing Charleston Landfill, which is set to close later this summer. Public hearing is scheduled for Thursday, April 3, 2025, at the Clubhouse at Coonskin Park, 375 Henry C Hoppy Shores Drive, Charleston, WV 25311. Comments will be accepted from 5-7PM. Written comments will be accepted until April 11, 2025, and may be either emailed to: director@kanawharecycles.org, or mailed to Kanawha County Solid Waste Authority, 600 Slack Street, Charleston, WV 25301.
